Messenger for teaching and learning activities
Messenger is an American app and plat form developed by Facebook Inc. Originally it is developed as Facebook chat in 2008,in 2010 it's messaging service was revamped and subsequently released standalone IOS and Android apps in August 2011 and standlone Facebook Portal hardware for messenger based in Q4 2018 .In April 2020, Facebook officially released messenger for Desktop which is supported on windows 10 and macOS and distributed on Microsoft store and App store respectively.(source: Wikipedia)
Messenger is an useful app because it is easy to use in low cost . There we can type many types of languages . Users can send messages, photos, videos,stickers, audio,files etc. Then receiver can react over them . Not only that users can video,and voice call then users also can unsent,remove those messages. Users can use it by mobile data WiFi.
In April 2020 Facebook Bagan a new feature is "messenger Rooms"it is a video chat feature user should video chat with other user up to 50 people at a time.That feature gained a lot of popularity among the Covid 19 Pandemic.so many teaching learning activities are running by it .
Some features of messenger are mention below
- It can use easily in low cost
- Users can send messages, photos, videos,strikers, audio, voice and video call quickly.
-It can show location.
-Users can create close group or room with in up to 50 people at a time.
-Users can share screen in video chat.etc
However messenger have many useful features but some people misuse it like as ;
-unnecessary chat,
-Blackmail to other
-Use it more time may lead to phycological and social problems.
- It can reduce direct interaction and communication between user.
Use of messenger in teaching learning activities;
In this covid 19 Pandemic messanger became a more useful in teaching learning activities because many teachers and students are teaching and learning through it. Teacher can send homework,file,note, through messenger and students also can submit their homework, classwork and other task. Due to it's group or video conferencing features many teaching learning activities are running.Students and teachers directly chat or video call for discussion. Following pictures also can define more details about it.

ReplyDeleteof course as mentioned above we can use the Facebook messenger as a teaching learning process and myself using this platform too . we can share our notes, notice but we can't share our files and large storage teaching ,materials.
